(Pawtucket, RI) Nick DeBarr and two others pitched perfect ball over the first six innings, as Durham posted its second straight shutout over Pawtucket 3-0.
DeBarr came on in the second after Ben Hendrickson left after a 1-2-3 with shoulder tightness. DeBarr (2-0) retired 12 straight batters, striking out five before giving way to Scott Munter. Munter pitched a 1-2-3 sixth before Jeff Bailey broke up the perfect game with a broken bat bloop single to left to start the seventh.
After Munter worked out of the seventh, Dale Thayer pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing a hit, and Grant Balfour finished for his fourth save, and second in as many days.
The Bulls used all of their available pitchers, as relievers Kevin Lynn and Mike Prochaska will make spot starts the next two days, and relievers Brian Henderson and Calvin Medlock were both ill.
The Bulls have allowed seven hits and no walks in the first two games of the series, striking 13 in each contest. Durham, now 14-17, has won six game already this year by shutout.
Durham got all it would need in the first when Fernando Perez doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on Justin Ruggiano's sac fly to left. Dan Johnson homered to right in the seventh, and Chris Richard capped the scoring in the ninth with an RBI single to left.
The Bulls will send Kevin Lynn to the hill on Wednesday.
Bulls shut out Pawtucket a second time, 3-0
