A report on FOXSports.com is saying North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson will enter the NBA Draft but not hire an agent. The story does not give the source of its information.

UNC has not announced the intentions of its players. Athletics Director Dick Baddour told 99.9 FM The Fan on Thursday that Tyler Hansbrough "might" make himself available.

The deadline is Sunday. According to an NBA spokesman, a player must have a letter postmarked by Sunday to declare for the draft. The league will not announce the underclassmen considering the draft until Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

If a player does not hire an agent, the player can return to college.

Despite Carolina's success, the UNC players are not considered elite prospects and might not be first-round picks. But declaring for the draft would allow the players to work out for NBA teams to get feedback and also participate in a pre-draft camp in Orlando, Fla., May 27-29.

Players who declare for the draft have unitl June 16 to pull out. The draft is June 26.

Working against the Tar Heels is the fact that this is a remarkably strong draft because of the number of underclassmen coming out. An NBA scout on Friday said, "This may be the best draft in 10 years."

The scout also scoffed at any concerns about Hansbrough's ability, saying, "He can play in the NBA."

UNC spokesman Steve Kirschner said Friday that Carolina is not ready to make an official statement on the future of the players.
