Carolina signs four players to one-year deals

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes announced they have signed four players Tuesday.

Carolina signed Wade Brookbank, a defenseman and left wing, to a one-year contract worth $500,000 on the NHL level and $100,000 if he plays in the AHL.

Also signing one-year split contracts were forward Ryan Bayda ($475,000 for the NHL and $100,000 for the AHL); defenseman Tim Conboy ($495,000 and $95,000) and defenseman J.D. Forrest ($475,000 and $50,000).

Brookbank, 29, played seven games with the Boston Bruins last season and had one goal. Brookbank, who is 6 feet 4 and 225 pounds, has played 68 NHL games in his career with three different teams.

Bayda, 26, had one goal and one assist in nine games with Carolina last year. Conboy, 25, spent the entire season in the minors at Albany and had three goals and seven assists. Forrest, 26, missed last season with a knee injury. Before that, he played professionally in Finland.
