Raleigh, N.C. — Duke's 2009 recruiting class appears like it will be one of the best in recent history, and Wakefield's Kevin Rojas wants in on the action.

Rojas, a 6-foot-3, 205-pounder from Wakefield, told Devils Illustrated this week that he has committed to head football coach David Cutcliffe and the Duke Blue Devils.

The rising-senior told the web site that the combination of the athletic program, academics, and the coaching staff was the determining factor. "The education I'll be getting at Duke is great," Rojas told Devils Illustrated. "I felt so comfortable with the coaching staff and I really felt at home."

Rojas said that he communicates with Cutcliffe often.

According to Devils Illustrated, Duke will not be using Rojas at his listed wide receiver position. Instead, the Devils are going to mix him in at the outside linebacker position. Rojas said that is the position he played in all of the film he sent to the coaches, although he does play both sides of the ball at Wakefield. He also said Cutcliffe told him Duke would be running a lot of zone blitzes.

In 2007, Rojas recorded 73 tackles and two interceptions at Wakefield.

Rojas told Devils Illustrated that he will be going to Duke in the spring because he will graduate from Wakefield in December. He added that he has not discussed a possible red shirt with Cutcliffe yet.

Besides Duke, schools like Florida, North Carolina, N.C. State, Vanderbilt, East Carolina, Elon, and Virginia had shown interest in Rojas, according to Rivals.com.

Wakefield will begin their season on Aug. 22 at Green Hope.
