Football 2008: Leesville Road
The Leesville Road Pride finished the season as the best team in Wake County going all the way to the 4-AA Eastern Regional Final before falling to eventual state champion New Bern. The Pride had only one blemish in their record during the regular season - a close, hard fought loss to Wake Forest-Rolesville in the season finale. The Cougars were also undefeated at the time. Leesville soon got revenge on their conference foes in the second round of the playoffs, and Coach David Green and company provided an incredible upset in Hope Mills over undefeated South View the next week. After sending two offensive players to the Srine Bowl, the Pride will look to regroup this season.

Team Strengths: "Although we lost a lot of senior experience, we had a number of returning players who got valuable game experience. Successful JV team should supply some talent. Should be solid at running back and receiver. Have a couple of solid linemen back on both sides. We should still have above average team speed. Senior H-back and defensive back Zach Greene (2 year All conference) and middle linebacker Mark Walker along with running back Zach Gentry and receivers Chris Kobeda and Cameron Todd all have tremendous potential."
Team Weaknesses: "Lost a strong senior class. Must replace three All-State performers, including our quarterback. We must also replace most of our secondary. We still will not have great size."
2008 Outlook: "Offensively , a lot rides on how quickly our young quarterbacks come along. We must also find a couple of offensive linemen and build some depth. We do have some potential in the offensive line . Defensively, we must rebuild our secondary to be competitive in a very tough conference. How well some of our young players develop and what kind of leadership we develop will determine how well we do."
