The Niner: Worst sports movies

Every week I will give you my NINE. I will come up with the topics, however I am more than open to suggestions. These are my top nine, feel free to comment in the rare case that I have overlooked something. You can always drop me a suggestion via e-mail; insiders@999thefan.com.

It has been 20 years since Bull Durham made its mark as the greatest sports movie of all time. It tops the list even when it comes to movies of any genre. I wanted to jog my memory of sports movies and what came out was….

The nine worst sports movies according to Mark Thomas:

9 – Rookie of the Year – A kid has arm surgery and he now throws 99. I know it’s a cute kids movie, but it is lame.

8 – Major League 2 and Back to the Minors – I’d rather have another Jurassic Park. Major League was top ten. “Rinse and repeat” method for movies stinks.

7 – Bad News Bears Goes to Japan – I will take the remake of the Bad News Bears original than this catastrophe.

6 – Caddyshack II – Windmills, Dan Akroyd, and Diane Cannon. Bad Mix!!

5 – The Fan – Robert DeNiro, Wesley Snipes, Benicio Del Toro, and great book. How do you go wrong ? Some how they did.

4 – Rocky V – This movie should’ve never been made!!!!!

3 – White Men Can’t Jump - Seeing Woody Harrelson play a clueless, naive bartender in Cheers and then playing a smooth basketball player is too hard for me to believe.

2 – Any Given Sunday – I am sorry. Great locker room speech. But I am highly critical of the football being played. I could have been able to compete on that movie.

1 – The Replacements – Keanu Reeves can’t act. And he has no chance of ever replicating a football player.
