On Monday, Amedeo’s Italian Restaurant announced the restaurant’s founder’s son was diagnosed with cancer.

According to the restaurant’s X (formerly Twitter) page, John “J.D.” DeAngelis was diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer.
DeAngelis’ father, former NC State football player Amedeo “Dick” DeAngelis, and his wife, Elizabeth Jane “Betty” DeAngelis, opened the restaurant's doors in 1963. According to the restaurant’s website, Amedeo’s is a restaurant where people could gather over their love of Italian food, N.C. State football and good company.
John DeAngelis’ family has opened a GoFundMe to help with his medical costs.
