Shots fired at Jeep near Rolesville, 2 people injured in crash

ROLESVILLE, N.C. — Shots were fired at a vehicle Tuesday night in Wake County near Rolesville.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies around 8:30 p.m. responded to a report of a vehicle hit by gunfire that crashed while traveling west on Mitchell Mill Road near Jonesville Road.

A Jeep Wrangler and a dark-color SUV were traveling on Mitchell Mill Road when shots were reportedly fired at the Jeep. The Jeep then drove off the road and flipped onto its side.

Authorities said no one suffered gunshot wounds, but emergency crews took the driver of the Jeep and a passenger to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries related to the crash.

The dark-colored SUV left the scene. Deputies are working to determine the circumstances behind the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and no one is in custody. Deputies asked anyone with information to contact the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-6911.
