RALEIGH, N.C. — A registered sex offender was arrested Saturday in the Kiddieland section of the North Carolina State Fair.

Alexander James Cogdell, 35, of 1401 North Heritage Street in Kinston, was wearing an ankle monitor, which alerted authorities that he was in violation of his parole, authorities said.

Cogdell was located by deputies with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office just before 7 p.m. at the State Educational Building in the Kiddieland section.

Authorities said Cogdell was attending the fair with his family and was cooperative when he was taken into custody.

Cogdell was charged with being a registered sex offender in a place with children on the premises. He was being held at the Wake County Detention Center under $20,000 bond.
