RALEIGH, N.C. — Jolie, a much-anticipated restaurant from Scott Crawford, opens Friday.

Jolie will open its doors Friday evening at 620 N. Person Street, beside Crawford and Son, Crawford's other venture.

The bistro, which is named after Crawford's daughter, will include an open kitchen, cozy indoor seating and a 32-seat covered rooftop garden.

The restaurant and all of its menu items were inspired by a family trip to Paris, when Crawford discovered his daughter's love for the French language and cuisine.

"We’re excited because we believe this classic French restaurant experience is essential to a thriving neighborhood, and we’ll be able to revisit time-honored dishes from our classical training and modernize using new techniques, too," he said.

Menu items include warm gougères (baked cheesy pastries), Jolie's ratatouille vegetable tart with herbaceous boursin (a soft cheese), escargot with warm marigold and summer tomatoes, crab salad with melon and grapefruit, Trout Almondine, and chicken fricassée with mushrooms.

Dessert at Jolie, which will include Pot de Crème with lavender, honey caramel and vanilla Sable or apple and brown butter scented cake, sounds equally appealing.

"This is a very personal project for me," Crawford said. "Every single detail – of the food, the drinks, the design and the service – have meaning to us."
