Sanford woman charged in fatal stabbing of husband; detectives say act was not in self-defense

Sanford woman charged with second-degree murder
CAMERON, N.C. — Harnett County detectives have arrested Luzysol Gonzalez De La Fuente, 23, of Sanford, for second-degree murder in the death of her husband, Jose Sorriano Paulino.

The charge stemmed from an investigation where Harnett County deputies responded to a home on Lizzie Jeter Lane in Cameron on June 25, 2023. The call was described as domestic-related.

Investigators discovered Gonzalez De La Fuente had stabbed Paulino, 24, in the heart.

Investigators later learned the circumstances around the stabbing did not validate Gonzalez De La Fuente's explanation that the act was done in self-defense.

Gonzalez De La Fuente was arrested on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024. She is being held at the Harnett County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.
