Bowling alleys and skating rinks could reopen despite pandemic restrictions under a bill that won preliminary approval in the House Tuesday, setting the General Assembly's Republican majority once again on a legislative collision course with Gov. Roy Cooper.

THE BILL WOULD ALLOW SKATING RINKS AND BOWLING ALLEYS TO REOPEN AT 50% CAPACITY WITH REQUIRED DISTANCING AND TEMPERATURE CHECKS FOR WORKERS. EMPLOYEES WOULD HAVE TO WEAR MASKS BUT CUSTOMERS WOULD NOT. REPRESENTATIVE JOHN ZOCA SAYS IT WOULD HELP BUSINESSES IN HIS FAYETTEVILLE DISTRICT THAT ON THE EDGE OF HAVING TO CLOSE PERMANENTLY. >> I BELIEVE WE SHOULD TREAT ALL BUSINESSES THE SAME.
