KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A Rocky Mount couple was arrested Tuesday night on charges of armed robbery and kidnapping in connection with a robbery last week at Swift’s Fine Jewelry in Knightdale.

A tearful employee told a 911 operator that a man and a woman held guns to the heads of employees at the store, at 210 Hinton Oaks Blvd., and forced them to lay on the floor.

The robbery was reported by the store's security service in a call to 911 when the store alarm was activated, just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 8.

Knightdale Police said information from witnesses helped them identify Jaquin Jamal Pratt, 18, and Nikita Shontel Taylor, 25, as the suspects. The pair were being held in the Nash County Detention Center on $150,000 secured bond apiece.

Police said the couple posed as customers, looking over merchandise for several minutes, before they pulled out a gun and ordered employees to the ground. The pair then fled with an undisclosed amount of jewelry and cash in a silver Suzuki Forenza with a 30-day North Carolina tag.

A store employee snapped a photo of the car and was able to tell police which way they were headed.
