Roanoke Rapids police search for next of kin for man in critical condition
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking information on the next of kin of a man who is in critical condition at an area hospital.

Edward Lee Murphy, 55, of Roanoke Rapids, was taken to a hospital around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday due a medical condition. Authorities say Murphy is in critical condition and is expected to be transferred to another medical facility for further treatment.
Murphy is locally known in the Roanoke Rapids/Weldon area as the man who lives under the Interstate 95 bridge at Becker Drive Extension.
Murphy has no known next of kin or family in the area but has connections to the High Point, Greensboro and Ahoskie areas.
Anyone with information on his next of kin or family members should call Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty at 252-533-2816.
