DAVIDSON, N.C. — A Facebook page that provides updates for a Davidson Spanish teacher missing in Mexico reports that 34-year-old Patrick Braxton-Andrew is now dead.

NBC News spoke to the person who runs the Facebook account and confirmed the information on the page.

According to the Facebook post, Braxton-Andrew "died on October 28 at the hands of a criminal organization that operates in the area where he was traveling."

According to the Davidson College Alumni Facebook page, 34-year-old Braxton-Andrew disappeared after going on a walk in Urique, Mexico.

Senator Thom Tillis said he was upset to learn of the news of Braxton-Andrew's death and will work to bring justice to his family.

"Susan and I are deeply saddened to learn of Patrick Braxton-Andrew’s passing, and our hearts go out to his loving family, friends, and the communities of Davidson and Mooresville, where he touched countless lives. Patrick’s family deserves justice, and I will continue to work with the State Department and federal officials as Mexican law enforcement continues their investigation," a statement said.
