RALEIGH, N.C. — A chilly rain will persist Monday, but if you're a fan of warm weather, don't let the dreary start to the week fool you -- there is some good news.

According to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, the rain will continue throughout the morning and afternoon before tapering off for the evening commute. Temperatures will be on the cool side of mild, in the mid-50s, for most of Monday with a high in the upper 50s.

"We'll have some winds for most of the day, keeping it feeling cool," said Gardner.

Tuesday is a different story, though. Temperatures will hover in the low 50s overnight before rising for Tuesday morning, which should greet the viewing area with sunshine and temperatures close to 60 degrees. By noon, temperatures will be in the 70s, and the mercury will top off in the mid 70s by late afternoon and evening.

7-Day Forecast

According to Gardner, Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week, and, with a forecast high of 78 degrees, it could break the record high of 76 degrees set back in 2011.

The rest of the week will be similarly warm spring-like, with highs in the upper 70s each day. While some isolated showers are possible, persistent rain is not expected to be an issue.
