Re-invention, inspiration: Amanda Lamb's new podcast shares women's stories
All the women I have interviewed have one thing in common, they have walked across hot coals and lived to tell their stories.
Posted — UpdatedI have so many rockstar women in my life, and I knew I wanted to tell their stories – not just stories of success, but stories of failure, stories about rising from the ashes, stories that would inspire and touch people with wisdom, courage, and vulnerability.
So far, I’ve had some amazing guests. Sloane Heffernan, a fellow WRAL alumna, shared how she changed careers after ten years of first considering making that change.
My college roommate, Barbara Snyder, shared the devastating and sudden loss of her beloved husband, and her unlikely second chance when she fell in love with a widower she met online.
Dr. Hope Seidel shared her career journey from pediatrician to parenting coach, and her personal journey struggling with an ex-husband who suffered with addiction.
My former colleague, WRAL producer Miriam Melvin, shared her experience as a Black woman climbing the ladder in the television news industry with a continuing goal to elevate Black voices.
Former North Carolina first lady Mary Easley shared her journey from attorney to politics to grandmother – the job she now considers her best one yet – with wisdom and humor.
And the list goes on.
All the women I have interviewed have one thing in common, they have walked across hot coals and lived to tell their stories. Stories they hope will inform and guide the next generation. Because, as women, one of our primary goals is to lead the women who will follow us. They stand on our shoulders in the same way we stand on the shoulders of the women who came before us.
