The Raleigh Police Department continues to seek the public's help in identifying the person responsible for a fatal hit and run on Friday night.

On Nov. 25 at approximately 7:33 p.m., the Raleigh Police Department responded to a wreck near Hillsborough Street and Bashford Road involving a 12-year-old girl who was hit by a car.

The girl, who was identified as Samantha Briggs, was attempting to cross the street near the 6500 block of Hillsborough St. when she was hit by a car that fled the scene.

Briggs was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a white 2006-2008 Hyundai hybrid passenger car.

Her family remains hopeful that the driver will speak up.

"Just turn yourself in," said Dakisha Holmes, Briggs' sister. "We just want justice for Samantha."

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses.
