RALEIGH, N.C. — The search for a suspect after a police chase in Wake County led to a brief lockdown at Joyner Elementary School in Raleigh during a campus event Friday night.

A Wake County deputy tried to pull over a car for a traffic violation on Interstate 540 Friday evening.

The driver failed to stop, and law enforcement chased the car with two male passengers onto Interstate 440 and Six Forks Road.

The car hit a guardrail on Six Forks road near Ramblewood Drive. The chase ended behind the Kroger on Six Forks and Wake Forest Roads.

The two men jumped and ran but officers were able to catch one of them.

Justin Montrell Jeffreys is in custody at the Wake County Detention Center and there is an active search for the second suspect, Donnie Dontez Jeffreys.

"K9s came in and tracked him for quite some distance, but as much traffic as we have today, and of course at the apartment complex, we finally lost him," Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said. "We're continue to look for him. It's under investigation. We're not going to give up that easy."
