Power outages in Raleigh after crash knocks down multiple power lines

Hundreds of people were without power on Friday morning after a car knocked down several power lines and snapped a power pole in half.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Hundreds of people were without power on Friday morning after a car knocked down several power lines and snapped a power pole in half.

Duke Energy crews were responding to Longview Lake Dr. near New Bern Avenue as early as 4:30 a.m.

Multiple stop lights were out as a result of the crash, and close to 300 people were reportedly without power around 5 a.m. according to Duke Energy's website.

In the dark of night, crews could be seen up in the air repairing the damage and working to get power on.

By 8 a.m., Duke Energy's website showed only 7 power outages in the area, with an estimated restoration time of around 10:15 a.m.

Minor injuries were reported with the crash.
