Police ask for public's help solving 2021 murder of Durham man known for fighting gun violence
On November 7, 2021, Coltrane was found shot to death in a car on N.C. Highway 55.
Posted — UpdatedThe same night of his murder, several individuals broke into Coltrane’s storage unit near the intersection of NC 55 and W. Cornwallis Road. The thieves stole two dirt bikes, a four-wheeler and several other items. Police said it's unknown at this time if the break-in was committed by the same suspects responsible for the homicide.
Coltrane was involved in "Bikes Up, Guns Down," a group whose mission is to keep people out of violence with dirt bikes.
