On cam: Motorcycle nearly hits child crossing NC street

The State Highway Patrol is sharing video of a child nearly hit by a motorcycle in Iredell County in an attempt to identify the cyclist.

TROUTMAN, N.C. — The State Highway Patrol is sharing video of a child nearly hit by a motorcycle in Iredell County in an attempt to identify the cyclist.

On Thursday around 2:30 p.m., officials said a motorcyclist passed a stopped school bus on Carlyle Road at Farmdale Drive.

The school bus had its warning lights activated and stop arm extended as the child was crossing the road, but video shows the motorcyclist nearly hitting the child then speeding away.

The SHP is trying to identify the cyclist, described as a white man on what appeared to be a Kawasaki Ninja 400.

According to the SHP, the cyclist was wearing a black and red helmet, a black Alpine Stars Jacket with red and white on the right arm and a red Adidas backpack.

Anyone who recognizes the person is asked to contact the State Highway Patrol at 828-466-5500 or *47. The investigation is ongoing.
