Hunter limits Duke hitters in Wake Forest victory

Ben Hunter struck out eight in his final home appearance, and Wake Forest took a 7-3 victory over Duke on Friday to extend its winning streak to a season-high four games.

The Demon Deacons (20-27, 9-15 Atlantic Coast Conference) jumped past the Blue Devils (34-15-1, 8-15-1) for the eighth and final spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament.

Duke also had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Hunter (3-5) retired the first 10 batters he faced before Matt Williams' single with one out in the fourth.

Allan Dykstra, Dustin Hood and Mike Murray drove in two runs apiece to lead Wake Forest. Dykstra also tied the Wake Forest single-season record for walks when he reached base in the third inning. He set the record of 57 last season and co-holds it with Matt Antonelli. Dykstra currently leads the country in walks.

Starter Andrew Wolcott (3-4) took the loss for Duke. He went 6 innings plus, giving up five runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
