Authorities on Friday identified the two people killed Thursday when their plane crashed into a farm field in western Greene County.

Mark J. Sobel, 56, and Joan Wilson, 56, were husband and wife from Estero, Fla., authorities said. Their plane was headed from Fort Myers, Fla., to Connecticut when it crashed Thursday afternoon near the crossroads community of Shine.

Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration arrived in eastern North Carolina Friday to handle the review of the crash to determine what happened.

A piece of one of the plane's wings landed outside an assisted living center more than a mile from the crash site, authorities said.
