Volunteers Seek Leads in 2 Unsolved Homicides

Volunteers and family members of two murder victims distributed fliers Saturday at the North Carolina State Fair in an effort to generate more leads in the unsolved homicide cases.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Volunteers and family members of two murder victims distributed fliers Saturday at the North Carolina State Fair in an effort to generate more leads in the unsolved homicide cases.

Jenna Nielsen and LeRoy Jernigan were both slain in Raleigh a little more than a year apart.

Jernigan, 41, was found dead inside the Circus Restaurant on Wake Forest Road where had been working as a cleaning contractor after hours on June 2, 2006. He was shot to death execution style.

Police released sketches of two suspects, and Jernigan's family is offering a $10,000 reward in the killing.

Nielsen, 22, was delivering USA Today newspapers on June 14 when she was attacked and stabbed to death. Her body was found behind a convenience store on Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh. She was eight months pregnant at the time.

Police are seeking a person of interest in the case, and her family has raised a $15,000 reward.
