A crash caused major delays on I-40 westbound for drivers heading out of Johnston County on Thursday morning.

The crash was between the Clayton Bypass and NC-42, causing delays of up to 20 minutes or more.

Sky 5 flew over the crash, showing all lanes were closed, and traffic was creeping past along the shoulder.

The delays were also causing back-ups on NC-42.

Alternate route: Drivers can pick up I-40 from NC-42, but they will still be stuck in traffic for a little while.

Drivers coming from the McGee's Crossroads area can also take Raleigh Road to Government Road, then head to NC-42, and get off on the Clayton Bypass, taking that to I-40 W to avoid the crash and save around 20 minutes.
