A South Carolina paramedic reported missing has been found dead, and a South Carolina man has been arrested.

A Pee Dee man accused of killing a police officer in New Mexico is now in custody. He is also linked to the death of Paramedic Phonesia Machado-Fore.

The New Mexico State Police said Sunday that 32-year-old Jarmey Smith, of Marion, was arrested after a shooting and chase involving deputies in Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

The NMSPD said early Saturday that Smith was wanted in the death of 35-year-old Officer Justin Hare.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that Machado-Fore’s body was found in Dillon County Friday evening. Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley also WMBF News that the body was found in the area of Jones Drive, near Lake View.
