Missing endangered alert canceled for Durham man

DURHAM, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons canceled a missing endangered alert for a Durham man.

Earlier Monday, authorities were looking for Melvin Leone Whitley, 75, who is suffering from a cognitive impairment.

According to authorities, Whitley had last been seen along the 1200 block of Elizabeth Street in Durham. Authorities believe Whitley could be going to the VA Hospital.

Whitley is 5-foot, 8 inches has black, short hair and has brown eyes. He was wearing a brown long-sleeve shirt, a black jacket, tan pants and tan shoes.
