Minor charged with murder of Knightdale mother of 3
Knightdale police have charged a 17-year-old suspect with murder in the death of Shinaka Ocean Earth, a 40-year-old mother of three.
Posted — UpdatedOfficers responded Nov. 8 to a call of shots fired at Earth's home on Twain Town Drive. They found the house riddled with bullets and Earth dead on her front porch.
Police Chief Lawrence Capps said the investigation was complex, but detectives were able to identify a suspect and present their findings to the Wake County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors have charged the juvenile with one count of murder.
"This case demanded a meticulous and calculated approach," Chief Capps said. "We are grateful to be able to begin the process of bringing closure for the victim's family."
The suspect is in a juvenile detention facility. Police say the investigation is active and they are looking for additional suspects.
