MICRO, N.C. — Donna Greene told WRAL News this week that she had resigned as chief of police in the Johnston County town of Micro.

Greene said she resigned Jan. 11 after the town council turned down a grant that would have funded law enforcement officers for the middle and high schools.

Green said she needed the help and did not understand why the town would refuse it. According to her, they cited civil liability concerns.
