'Mary Poppins Returns' opens Raleigh Little Theatre's outdoor movie series Thursday

"Mary Poppins Returns," the 2018 sequel to the classic, will open Raleigh Little Theatre's free summer movie series this week. The movies will be held in the Stephenson Amphitheatre next to the Raleigh Rose Garden, not far from Cameron Village.

"Mary Poppins Returns," the 2018 sequel to the classic, will open Raleigh Little Theatre's free summer movie series this week. The movies will be held in the Stephenson Amphitheatre next to the Raleigh Rose Garden, not far from Cameron Village.

Movies are scheduled weekly on Thursdays through Aug. 8. Doors open at 7 p.m. with concessions and food trucks. The movies begin at 8:30 p.m.

Here's the schedule:

July 11: "Mary Poppins Returns" (PG). The pre-show activity will be a scavenger hunt.

July 18: "Bohemian Rhapsody" (PG-13). The pre-show activity will be a lip sync contest with Raleigh Brewing.

July 25: "Beetlejuice" (PG). The pre-show activity includes a performance from RLT’s “Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder"

Aug. 1: "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" (PG). The pre-show activity is a dog costume contest.

Aug. 8: "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" (PG-13). The pre-show performance is an interview and performance with Groove in the Garden artist Michael Casey and Piedmont Laureate David Menconi.
