A man wanted in a 2002 homicide in Cumberland County was arrested Friday in Fort Smith, Ark.

<b>FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.</b> — A man wanted in a 2002 homicide in Cumberland County was arrested Friday in Fort Smith, Ark.

Isaac Micah McDonald, 42, is accused of killing Janet Norris, whose body was found stuffed in a trunk in a wooded area off Canady Street. She had been asphyxiated.

Cumberland County detectives have <a href="https://www.wral.com/story/news/local/story/6157151/">long linked McDonald to the crime</a> but didn't have enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant until this week.

McDonald, a convicted sex offender in Arkansas, was in the Sebastian County jail awaiting extradition to North Carolina, according to CNN affiliate KFSM-TV.
