FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man wanted in a 2002 homicide in Cumberland County was arrested Friday in Fort Smith, Ark.

Isaac Micah McDonald, 42, is accused of killing Janet Norris, whose body was found stuffed in a trunk in a wooded area off Canady Street. She had been asphyxiated.

Cumberland County detectives have long linked McDonald to the crime but didn't have enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant until this week.

McDonald, a convicted sex offender in Arkansas, was in the Sebastian County jail awaiting extradition to North Carolina, according to CNN affiliate KFSM-TV.
