Man shot while sitting in car in Food Lion parking lot, Aberdeen police say

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the shooting happened just after 8 p.m. at the Food Lion off NC Highway 5. Police said a person was sitting in their vehicle in the parking lot when another person came up to the car and started shooting. Both the suspect and the victim ran from the scene before officers arrived.

ABERDEEN, N.C. — Police are investigating a shooting after a man was shot in a Food Lion parking lot Wednesday night in Aberdeen.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the shooting happened just after 8 p.m. at the Food Lion off N.C. Highway 5.

Police said 31-year-old Dalyne Chaquiel Balser was sitting in his car in the parking lot when another person came up to the car and started shooting.

Police said they recovered approximately 15 shell casings from the parking lot.

Both the suspect and Balser ran from the scene before officers arrived. Balser later arrived at FirstHealth in Hoke County to be treated for a gunshot wound to his foot.

He is currently in stable condition.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
