CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Police were investigating after a man was shot several times Friday night in Chapel Hill, authorities said Saturday.

The man was rushed for medical treatment to UNC Hospital after emergency workers found him at 260 Erwin Road shortly before 11:30 p.m. Authorities have not yet said what the victim's condition is or publicly identified him.

Police said in a written statement that the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no public safety threat to the community.

Investigators have not yet said what prompted the shooting or if anyone has been arrested in connection with the crime.
