Man shot in leg on S. Wilmington Street in Raleigh, man in custody

A man is in custody after a Monday night shooting in Raleigh sent another man to the hospital.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man is in custody after a Monday night shooting in Raleigh sent another man to the hospital.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers received a call about a shooting around 5:52 p.m. on the 2600 block of South Wilmington Street.

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg when they arrived. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Christopher White, 57, was arrested near the shooting scene and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by felon.

The investigation is ongoing.
