Man hospitalized after being shot in Goldsboro neighborhood, at least 13 shell casings litter street

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A person is in the hospital after being shot in a Goldsboro neighborhood Thursday night.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and subsequent shooting in the 400 block of Hollowell Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

A large police presence continued investigating overnight. At least 13 shell casings could be seen in the roadway. Investigators were seen scouring the area with flashlights.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and rendered aid. The victim was transported to UNC Health Wayne, and then to ECU Health. The victim is considered to be in a critical, but stable condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
