Man donates 'considerable amount of money' to Sgt. Nix's family, Greensboro police says

A "panhandler" positively affected by Sgt. Philip Dale Nix, has donated to his family, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

On Thursday, officers said an emotional man came into the lobby of the Greensboro police station and said he was a "panhandler." Police said the man told an officer how much Nix meant to him and how much of a positive impact he had on his life.

Officials said the man then pulled out a "considerable amount of money" and insisted on donating it to Nix's wife and son.
