Man charged with assault of pregnant woman in Mebane

On Tuesday, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit (SVU), began an investigation regarding a report of an assault on a woman, which allegedly occurred in Mebane near the 1400 block of Mebane Oaks Road.

Detectives learned that the victim was 38 weeks pregnant when the assault occurred. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

During the investigation, detectives identified Caleb Steven Dunman, 32, of Mebane, as the suspect.

Dunman was charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and misdemeanor assault on a pregnant woman.

He was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and was being held without bond.
