Investigators identified the suspect as 19-year-old Daniel Cruz Rivera of Durham.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Christmas Eve, Carrboro police responded to a shooting at 200 NC 54.

Officers found a 19-year-old male who had been shot and suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to UNC-Chapel Hill Hospital and remains under medical care.

Investigators identified the suspect as 19-year-old Daniel Cruz Rivera of Durham. Arrest warrants were obtained, but initial attempts to locate Cruz Rivera were unsuccessful.

On Jan. 17, Cruz Rivera was located and arrested in Durham by the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Taskforce. He is being held at the Durham County Jail without bond.
