Man and woman charged after 8-hour standoff in Fayetteville

Two people are in custody after an eight-hour negotiation with police. Suspects wanted in connection to a string of robberies.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man and woman are charged in Fayetteville after an eight-hour negotiation with police.

According to police, a man barricaded himself inside a home Tuesday afternoon in the 2500 block of Previs Road.

Police arrived on scene at approximately 3:15 p.m. after the man wouldn't come outside.

Shortly after, investigators discovered another person inside the home, and Fayetteville's Crisis Negotiation Team and Emergency Response Team began an eight-hour negotiation.

The man and woman were eventually taken into custody.

Kenneth Earl Young, 38, of Fayetteville, was charged with five counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, five counts of felony possession of stolen property, five counts of second-degree kidnapping, five counts of possession of firearm by felon and resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer.

Crystal Ann Kirby, 42, of Fayetteville, who had an active order for arrest for failure to in court, was charged with one count of resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer.

Both were denied bond and were being held at the Cumberland County Jail after their release from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
