Now that your kids have opened their tablets, phones or other electronic devices, it's time to set some limits.

Now that your kids have opened their tablets, phones or other electronic devices, it's time to set some limits.

Experts with the American Academy of Pediatrics suggest families create a media plan, with rules that apply to both parents and children, about when it's OK to use electronics and when devices need to be put away.

Talk to kids about the serious consequences of online bullying and of sharing private photos. Be sure to list what types of activities are not appropriate.

If you have younger children, look for media choices that are educational or teach good values.

And if you have older kids who use social media, ou may want to consider monitoring their accounts.

To get started, there are resources online that let you enter the age of your child and your goals to suggest a personalized family plan that works within your values and busy lifestyles.
