RALEIGH, N.C. — In North Carolina, barbecue is more than a favorite -- it's a staple! These were your top five picks in WRAL's 2018 Voters Choice Awards.

Winner: The Redneck BBQ Lab

Born in Johnston County in 2017, The Redneck BBQ Lab features new recipes every month and sauces and rubs are made from recipes honed from years of competitions and caterings.

2nd Place: City Barbeque
Pick your meat and your sides at this fast-casual eatery known for its tasty grub.

3rd Place: The Pit

The Pit has amazing whole-hog, pit-cooked barbecue, but it's also known for its sides and desserts served in a laid-back, upscale setting.
