FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Another drive-thru COVID-19 vaccine clinic was underway Saturday morning at the Crown Complex in Fayetteville.

The event, which was also held Friday, is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but clinics usually run out of vaccines in only a few hours. On Saturday, hundreds of cars were in line before the start time.

On Friday morning, cars started lining up as early as 4 a.m.

<a href="https://www.wral.com/coronavirus/vaccination-priority-list-shuffled-again-as-people-65-or-older-now-eligible/19471876/">People ages 65 and up and health care workers are eligible</a> to get a vaccine in Cumberland County.

On Friday, County Health Director Dr. Jennifer Green said 30 nurses were administering shots, and vehicles were in four lines to speed the process.

"We are moving much faster; the wait time shorter today than it was [Thursday]," Green said. "Once the car comes into the building, then we are able to get them in and out in five to seven minutes, if that.”

The Cumberland County Health Department plans to hold appointment-only vaccination clinics at the Crown Complex next Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

‘Out of the Void’: Teenagers Eager for Vaccination

Beginning Tuesday, in an effort to reduce the amount of people being turned away when supplies run out, <a href="https://www.cumberlandcountync.gov/covid19/vaccination/vaccination-clinic-calendar" target="_blank" rel="noopener">people will be able to make an appointment in advance</a> between either 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. or 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. After 1 p.m., people without appointments can show up for a chance to get a vaccine.

According to officials, people who want to register for a vaccine will need to fill out an online form. Eligible populations will then be contacted by phone to confirm their appointment time. People who have questions or experience issues can call 910-678-7657 on weekdays, but call volume may be high.
