Grass Is Good Eatin'

Dear Miss Fifi:

Why does my dog eat grass?

- BJ

~~~
Dear BJ:
Hmm ... maybe you're a bad cook?
Seriously, though, Miss Fifi doesn't eat grass unless she has an upset stomach, for which the grass works sort of like ipecac for you humans. Grass sort of serves as roughage in our high protein diets, and can settle our stomachs. We also pick up messages through grass. For example, did you know that Twiggy the Terrier who lives down the street, hasn't been feeling well lately so she's been eating ... Oh, never mind. You get the idea.
If it really worries you, check with your dog's vet.
