The American Kennel Club announces the 2023 most popular breeds in Raleigh. 

The American Kennel Club (AKC) has announced the <a href="https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/dog-breeds/most-popular-dog-breeds-by-city-2023/">2023 most popular breeds in Raleigh</a>.

The Labrador Retriever remains as Raleigh's favorite AKC-recognized dog. The lab is also recognized as the #1 pup in Richmond, VA and Albany, NY.

While Raleigh's top five remains the same, Dashchunds and Rottweilers are "pawing" their way up the charts.

On Tuesday, the American Kennel Club released its top five most popular dog breeds in Raleigh.

“Residents of Raleigh have remained loyal to the Lab,” said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. “The versatile, loveable breed has been number one in the city for many years, and for good reason. It is highly intelligent, eager to please, and great with kids.”

The American Kennel Club also announced its <a href="https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/dog-breeds/most-popular-dog-breeds-2023/">nationwide rankings on Wednesday</a>. The playful and adaptable French Bulldog is America’s most popular breed for the second consecutive year.
