Kinston man injured in officer-involved shooting

A man was injured Saturday in an officer-involved shooting.

KINSTON, N.C. — A man was injured Saturday in an officer-involved shooting.

Officials said officers with the Kinston Police Department were patrolling the 900 block of Towerhill Road around 9:30 p.m., as requested by the community.

While in the area, officers encountered 44-year-old Anthony Hicks. During the encounter, gunshots were fired and Hicks was struck.

Hicks was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he is currently receiving treatment. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.

No Kinston police officers were injured during the encounter.
