Judge orders mental evaluation for man who pointed gun at someone on UNC campus
A judge ordered a mental evaluation for a man accused of causing a lockdown for pointing a gun at someone on UNC-Chapel Hill's campus.
Posted — UpdatedIt all unfolded in the Alpine Bagel shop last September.
Police say a gun was pointed at an employee.
Warrants say he had a gun inside the Graham Student Union and threatened to kill a man at the Alpine Bagel Shop inside. It caused the second lockdown in two weeks for UNC students in the fall semester.
Harris bonded out of jail and has been in court a handful of times since September for his case.
Wednesday, his attorney made a new motion for an evaluation. She told the judge her request is based on triggers Harris has been having.
His attorney said she believes it's in Harris' best interest to have that evaluation and the judge agreed to order one.
Harris' next court date will be in April. He did not speak at all in court on Wednesday.
