RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State fans woke up Friday morning with a big smile on their face after celebrating at the Belltower until 1 a.m.

Fans gathered Thursday night at Players Retreat to watch the game: Wolfpack's first March Madness win in 9 years.

The win against Texas Tech resonates with students and fans in a special way, especially right after becoming ACC tournament champions for the first time in 37 years.

"I'm so proud, proudest I've ever been in my whole life. I've never felt better for these guys, really," said one fan. "This is the best team in college basketball history. Mark my words five more games, five more games!"

Ben Middlebrooks, the team's forward, scored a career high of 21 points.

"We’ve heard a lot about fatigue through our ACC Tournament run. And even now, I mean no matter how many times people keep saying it. It seems like we keep getting stronger with every game we play. So we just got to keep that going," he said.

The Wolfpack will be back on the court on Saturday.
