Raleigh parks is hosting a self-guided scavenger hunt that involves holiday light displays located at a dozen city parks.

The Jolly Raleigh Scavenger Hunt runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., daily, Dec. 1 to Dec. 12. Registration is open now. It's free.

Here's how it works, according to the city's website:

  • Register for the scavenger hunt via Raleigh's RecLink. Once you register, you'll get an email with the scavenger hunt clues.
  • The solutions to the clues will guide you to hidden light displays at 12 Raleigh parks.
  • At some of the locations, you'll find a link to a "holiday surprise, which is a self-guided activity that you can complete at home.

All scavenger hunt participants also will be entered into a raffle to win a Holiday Express 2021 package.

More information about how to register and participate is on Raleigh's website. Raleigh also is hosting two weekends of holiday-themed drive-in movies next month.
