Hotel guests evacuated after domestic assault near Crabtree Valley

Hotel guests were evacuated from their rooms overnight while police investigated a domestic situation at the Residence Inn by Marriott located across the street from Crabtree Valley Mall.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Hotel guests were evacuated from their rooms overnight while police investigated a domestic situation at the Residence Inn by Marriott located across the street from Crabtree Valley Mall.

Around 1 a.m., officers with the Raleigh Police Department responded to the hotel located at 2200 Summit Park Lane.

Officials said a man assaulted a woman, who ran outside of the hotel and called the police. According to officials, when police responded to the hotel, the man barricaded himself in his room. Police said the suspect finally came out of the hotel around 9:30 a.m. and is now in custody.

No one was injured, but officials evacuated the hotel as a precaution. Guests are now able to return to their rooms.
